Glossary
Definitions of ammunition, protocol, and crypto terms used in AmmoMarkets.
Ammunition Terms
Caliber The internal diameter of a firearm barrel, used to identify ammunition size. Examples: 9mm, 5.56 NATO, .308 Winchester.
FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) A bullet type with a soft lead core enclosed in a harder metal shell. Used primarily for target practice and range shooting. Less expensive than hollow points.
JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) A bullet designed to expand on impact. Used for self-defense. The hollow cavity in the tip causes the bullet to mushroom, transferring more energy to the target.
Brass Case Ammunition casing made from brass. Standard for quality practice and defensive ammunition. Can be reloaded (reused).
Grain (gr) The unit of measurement for bullet weight. One grain equals 1/7000 of a pound. Example: a 115gr 9mm bullet weighs 115 grains.
Round A single complete unit of ammunition — the cartridge case, primer, propellant, and bullet together. "One round" = one shot.
Protocol Terms
Primers The AmmoMarkets liquidity incentive points program. Earn Primers by participating in the protocol. (Details to be announced.)
Mint The act of depositing stablecoins to receive ammunition tokens. The smart contract creates new tokens in exchange for your deposit.
Redeem The act of burning ammunition tokens to receive physical ammunition. Tokens are locked in the contract during fulfillment and burned upon completion.
Oracle The on-chain price feed that provides current ammunition prices. Updated every 4 hours from AmmoSquared data.
Self-Rescue The ability to cancel a pending redemption and recover your tokens if the fulfillment deadline expires. Built into the smart contract — no trust required.
Crypto / DeFi Terms
DEX (Decentralized Exchange) A peer-to-peer marketplace for trading tokens without a central intermediary. Examples: Trader Joe, Pangolin.
ERC-20 The standard interface for fungible tokens on EVM-compatible blockchains. Ammunition tokens are ERC-20s, making them compatible with wallets, DEXs, and DeFi protocols.
Stablecoin A cryptocurrency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. AmmoMarkets currently accepts USDT (Tether) for minting, with USDC (Circle) support planned.
Wallet Software that stores your private keys and lets you interact with blockchain applications. Examples: MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet.
Gas The fee paid to the network for processing transactions. Gas is paid in the network's native token and is typically very low (under $0.10).
SIWE (Sign-In with Ethereum) An open standard for authenticating to websites using your crypto wallet instead of a username and password. In AmmoMarkets, SIWE is only required during the redemption flow — to provide shipping information and verify your identity. All other actions (minting, viewing balances, market data) work with just a wallet connection.
